Ski Tour Luxe

European ski touring is the best in the world. The altitude and accessibility of the mountains, combined with the extensive system of mountain refuges give skiers the option to tour in incredible locations.

However, some of the refuges can be a bit basic. Lack of showers, large dormitories, and basic food can be off-putting for some. On this trip we use a select hand-full of luxury mountain retreats to give you real comfort at the end of a day of touring. Hot showers, fine dining, en-suite rooms, and a proper wine list are all standard.

Accommodation options exist in France, Italy and Switzerland. Just ask for more info.

NB: These trips are invitation only. I won't add people to a touring group that I haven't skied with before.

Trip fees are the guiding cost. In addition you will need to pay for the accommodation for you and the guide and other arising costs between the group. If the trip fills completely then the Guide's accommodation does not need to be paid for. Travel to the venue is included for the first 4 people booking. After that we will need a second car in the group.

13-15 March 2026 - We will stay at the Gemmi Lodge in Switzerland. This hotel is at 2350m above Leukerbad in the Rhone Valley. Access is directly from Leukerbad using the Gemmibahn cable car. The hotel gives fantastic access to the neighbouring peaks, including the Daubenhorn, Lammerenhorn and the Wildstrubel. Accommodation is in double/twin/triple or even quadruple rooms, and different standards can be chosen. Guests should allow approx 150CHF/night (based on double occupancy) with half board. This includes a share of the Guide's accommodation fee. For a full group, the guide's accommodation is included (allow 120CHF/night each). The cable car is included in the hotel fee.

1-3 April 2026 - We will stay at the Rifugio Giasson in Valgrisenche. This small luxury hotel at 1800m has a mixture of twin and double en-suite rooms. There is a lovely bar area with a fireplace, and equally nice dining room. The sauna is ready every evening so that guests can sooth their aching muscles. The hotel also gives excellent access to numerous different ski touring objectives, including tree-skiing for poor weather. The a la carte menu is a mixture of traditional Italian fare, and local specialities, ensuring every evening is an absolute joy. The wine list is excellent value, mostly using wines from the Val d'Aosta. The lodge offers fast wifi at no extra cost. Depending on conditions, we can either tour over a peak to approach the lodge, or arrange a tracked vehicle to collect us at the roadhead and drive us in. We can also arrange for extra baggage to be taken to the lodge for us if you want to wear clean clothes each evening. For a two night stay, I would allow 400 euros/person to cover accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner, wine, and a share of the guide's costs (Based on a group of 3). This would be cheaper for full group of 6 (around 300 euros/person).

Trips need a minimum of three people to run.
