The Vanoise National Park is fantastic for ski touring. It is the range of mountains linking Val d'Isere and the Trois Vallées (Courchevel, Meribel and Val Thorens), and it offers exceptional touring in beautiful terrain.
Itinerary:
We will meet early in the morning in Chamonix before driving to Brides les Bains (1hr45). Parking there we will access the lifts and cross the vast Trois Vallées ski area, eventually taking the highest lift in Val Thorens before putting on our skins. From there it's a 600m skin to the Col du Gebroulaz at 3417m.Headinmg down from there we initially ski on the North facing Gebroulaz glacier, and then continue the 1500m descent all the way down to the very comfortable Roc de la Peche refuge. This private refuge has small rooms, showers and a sauna, so if you want to relax at the end of the day, don't forget your swimsuit.
The following day we will ski down to Pralognan and take lifts again before skinning 500m to the Refuge Col de la Vanoise. Once there we should have time to either do a mini tour from the refuge or do some training in the local area.
We start the final day with a short ski down before skinning 650m up a glacier to the Col de la Grande Casse (3091m). From there it’s a very long ski down, initially on glacier, eventually ending up in Laisonnay D’en Bas where we take a taxi back to Brides les Bains. Once there we will head back to Chamonix.
For the first four people booking there will be free transportation to and from Chamonix included.
